Surface Mount Diesel Heater Enclosure – Mid-Size Alu-Cab ModCAP & Canopy Camper

The 813 Fabrication & Design Surface Mount Diesel Heater Enclosure is designed specifically around the Webasto Air Top 2000 STC 12V 2kW Diesel Heater, utilizing Webasto's 90° vertical mounting capability to create a compact, clean, and easy-to-use heating system.

This Mid-Size kit is available for both Alu-Cab ModCAP and Canopy Camper applications, with mounting options for the rear Driver or Passenger Side corners. Full-Size kits available upon request with up charge for larger components.

Purpose-Built 50/50 Design

Unlike traditional diesel heater installations, our enclosure utilizes a unique 50/50 configuration that separates the system between the exterior and interior of the camper.

The exterior enclosure houses the fuel tank, fuel pump, combustion air intake, and exhaust components, keeping fuel and combustion-related components outside the camper. The Webasto heater and controls are mounted within the interior enclosure.

With the heater located inside the camper, cabin air can be recirculated directly through the heater without the need for additional heated-air ducting. Temperature and heater operation can be monitored and controlled using the Webasto SmarTemp Bluetooth control system.

The exterior enclosure also incorporates a custom aluminum fuel tank with an integrated electronic fuel-level sensor. Fuel capacity is approximately 1.15 gallons.

Clean, Protected Installation

The Surface Mount Diesel Heater Enclosure was designed to keep the installation as clean and protected as possible. Fuel lines and electrical wiring are routed within the enclosure system, helping protect them from branches, trail debris, and other potential snagging hazards during off-road travel.

Simple Operation

Ease of use was a major consideration throughout the design process. Once the system is properly installed, operation is simple:

Remove the included exhaust and combustion-air intake plugs, start the heater, and you're ready to go.

Fitment & Available Configurations

The enclosure itself is not limited to one specific camper or trailer design. Application-specific interior mounting brackets and cover plates are used to adapt the system to different installations.

This Mid-Size version is designed for Alu-Cab Canopy Camper and ModCAP applications.

Full-Size Alu-Cab mounting kits and a Universal Mounting Kit are available upon request. The Universal Kit will allow installation on compatible campers, trailers, and DIY builds with an appropriately sized flat mounting surface.

Important Safety Information

THE USE OF A DIESEL HEATER IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE REQUIRES PROPER INSTALLATION, VENTILATION, EXHAUST ROUTING, AND CARBON MONOXIDE MONITORING.

We strongly recommend installing a high-quality carbon monoxide detector inside any enclosed space where the heater is used.

If your camper is equipped with an awning, overhang, or other structure that could trap exhaust gases, additional exhaust tubing may be necessary to safely route exhaust away from the occupied area.

Driver-Side Installations: Do not operate the heater with an awning deployed if the awning could allow exhaust gases to accumulate beneath it. Always ensure exhaust is directed safely away from doors, windows, vents, awnings, and occupied areas.

Always remove the intake and exhaust plugs before operating the heater. Allow the heater and exhaust components to cool completely before reinstalling the plugs.
